Community MMA class providers, under the name Street Edge, will be hosting a street medic class run by a qualified trainer on October 10th in Partisan’s basement. They currently lead fitness and MMA classes to share practical skills among activist circles, and they see medic training as an important part of this.
“We are very fortunate to be able to provide this one-off street medic training event, open to all. With professional paramedic guidance, we will cover:
– Basic first aid (bruising, strains, burns…)
– Strikes from a blunt object (baton, brick…)
– Mace or tear gas attacks
– What to do if the casualty wants or needs to avoid hospital.
7pm, Tuesday 10th October. Partisan have kindly agreed to host this event at their premises, 19 Cheetham Hill Road, right in the town centre. You do not need to have already attended Street Edge classes to participate in this session. This session will last for roughly 2 hours.
Like all of our classes, we operate on a pay-what-you-can basis. We recommend a donation of £3 but no-one will be turned away due to lack of funds.
Street Edge is a non-profit community response to the world of corporate gyms. We promote teamwork and cooperation over individualism. We strive to unite and have a positive impact in our working class communities. As well as combat sports, we strive to give our members, supporters and community access to a variety of essential skills and training. We are therefore very pleased to offer this opportunity.”
