ACORN’s Organising Skills Reading Group

Organising is very new to lots of our members here in Manchester. For the next three months we will be running reading groups to learn a bit more about theories of organising and share tips and strategies. Organisers from other groups are also encouraged to come and join us so we can share ideas across groups.
Come join ACORN to discuss a chapter from Jonathan Schmucker’s “Hegemony How-To: A Roadmap for Radicals. We will be reading the chapter entitled “Beyond the Low Plateau” which tackles the issues of bringing people with different levels of experience and energy into our organising structures. If you can’t find a copy of the book get in touch with us and we can point you to a PDF. The format will look like this:
7:00 – 8:00 – Group discussion of the text
8:00 – 8:30 – Small groups, sharing tips on what has and hasn’t worked in our experiences
8:30 – 9:00 – back together to discuss and feedback main points and think of some ideas to try in the upcoming months
