Kill the Bill MCR reads ‘We Do This Till We Free Us’

23rd May 2021 @ 5:00 pm - 6:30 pm

Partisan have linked up with Manchester Momentum, Words Into Action and MCR Feminist Book Group to co-host our first reading group session (chapters 1 & 2) of ‘We do this til we free us’ by Mariame Kaba on Sunday May 23rd, 5pm-6:30pm.
Book description: ‘What if social transformation and liberation isn’t about waiting for someone else to come along and save us? What if ordinary people have the power to collectively free ourselves? In this timely collection of essays and interviews, Mariame Kaba reflects on the deep work of abolition and transformative political struggle’
This reading group has been organised as part of the Greater Manchester Kill the Bill coalition – a movement to build power to stop the state violence promised in the Police, Crime, Sentencing and Courts Bill and beyond.
If you don’t manage to read the chapters don’t worry, the conversations around the chapters will be valuable! We can also send you the book if you are unable to get a copy (please let us know when completing the sign up form)
We will have an agreement of respect and care which we expect people taking part in the reading group to respect and follow. We’ll lay this out at the start of the session!
If you’re interested in joining us please sign up here (link also in the bio), you’ll receive more details including the zoom link: http://bit.ly/tilwefreeus3
See you there!
