MCR Debates: What’s the value of work? ‘The Phenomenon of Bull* Jobs’

22nd March 2018 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Would the world be worse of if your job disappeared tomorrow?

Would your life better if you never had to work again?

MCR Debates looks at the pamphlet by David Greaber and Strike Mag, (https://strikemag.org/bullshit-jobs/)

The essay examines how our contemporary world appears to be making up jobs for people to do. From endless financial services, to call centers, recruitment agencies, and human resources departments, we appear to be very busy doing things, that appear to produce nothing, and do nothing to enrich the human experience.
All of this comes as automation is making the need for human labor less and less, while over production is depleting the world of its resources, do we not need to begin examining our work ethic?

MCR Debates asks,
What is our contemporary relationship with work?
What is the value of work?
What would a world without work look like?

MCR Debates is a non profit event, we do ask for a £3 donation to cover room hire and promotions.
