We’re queering our Film Drawing Club – we will sit down cosy, watch a queer film classic, and sketch out striking frames. Snacks, materials and nice people provided! Every ability is welcome!
Partisan Film Drawing Club is our monthly evening for doodlers, sketchers, painters, creators, scribblers and anyone else who wants to come together in a supportive environment to fill their sketchbooks.
Each month we watch a film together. During the club everyone takes part by pausing the film when there is a scene that they want to sketch. We make a range of drawings throughout the session – starting with quick 30-second sketches and building up to longer, 10-minute or more studies.
The club is easy going; it’s not a class – there is no teacher! We learn from each other and our volunteer facilitators are on hand to help and answer questions.
The club takes place simultaneously in Partisan’s space and on Zoom. We will have some basic art supplies in the space, but you are welcome to bring your own materials. You will need a sketchbook or paper and something to make marks with: pencils, pens, crayons, paints, pastels, markers and/or charcoal are all great options! Feel free to bring your own food. We will have soft and hot drinks available on a donation basis.
Partisan Film Drawing Club operates on a pay as you feel basis and no-one is turned away for lack of funds. If you’d like to get involved with running film club, please talk to the volunteers on the night – we’d love to have you.
Access Information: The club will go for two hours with a 10-minute comfort break halfway through, though you are welcome to take additional breaks or leave early. If you are joining on Zoom do not have to have webcams on but can if they like. They will need access to audio. The session will not be recorded. The film will be announced on the night but we can share that it will be an English language film without subtitles, is rated 15, and there is a content note for addiction, sexual content, homophobia, transphobia, hate speech, and body dysmorphia. If you have any additional access requirements then please let us know.
Partisan Pride 2022 is an alternative, free, more accessible, radical, community pride programme for those often left out of mainstream pride.
We wanted to offer events to people that can be hard to find – including wheelchair-accessible, sober, family-focused, explicitly for trans and non-binary people.
That’s why our collective members are so excited to be putting on a full programme of events this year in our space in Salford.
Partisan Pride wouldn’t be possible without the hard work of our volunteers and the generous support of our funders. Partisan is thrilled to be supported by George House Trust, the LGBT Foundation and the GM LGBTQ+ Community Fund. We can’t wait to help more LGBTQ+ people enjoy pride!
