Partisan is a collective and volunteer run space for independent, community led, DIY and cultural based projects. As a collective and co-operative, Partisan is democratically owned and managed by the people who work in and use the space. We are located over two floors in a Grade II listed building on Cheetham Hill Road. Our basement is a flexible venue space and bar, and upstairs is a large social space surrounded by offices and meeting rooms. Both can be used by community and independent cultural groups for meetings, exhibitions, film screenings, book launches, parties and gigs. Revenue generated by membership, office and room rental, music events and the café-bar subsidise the free and affordable use of the space for those that need it. more info at: https://
Ajah UK: 5 Piece Hip-Hop Rock outfit.
Together, front women Sam Acquaah and Jaheda, guitarist Louise Anderson, bassist Sarah Kerton & drummer Sophie Wozencraft form Ajah UK, an unsigned, independent and unique Hip-Hop/Rock act. The absence of a record label/manager, however, hasn’t stopped this band of fierce women making a name for themselves across the UK and beyond.
Ajah UK don’t conform to the hetero-normative perceptions of women and take pride in this. Music gives each band member a voice and path to freedom and together as Ajah UK they will walk that path beyond all boundaries and limitations. What constitutes their live performances, therefore, is an epic and intense collaboration of words, music and entertainment that cuts the bullshit and represents everything they stand for as musicians and women.
Iceboy Violet: This Manchester icon is a producer / vocalist re-appropriating the energy, emotionality and resistance of Grime music to challenge heteronormativity and toxic masculinity. Giving voice to anger, anxieties and defiance as personal and collective catharsis.
Mola Mola: Spacious, laid back grooves with hints of psychedelia, Manchester based musicians, one of many fantastic musical projects from these talented people.
Nino’s Blue Saloon: dreamy psych folk-rock from Lancaster
FOOD: We will be serving up This & That Café Ltd famous 3 curry and rice at around 6pm. Crisps are available at the bar and there will be a baked goods sale also through out the day.
The Ping Pong table and Wii games will be available to play on throughout the day.
