Partisan’s November Work Day

PARTISAN WORK DAY 💪 🛠

Partisan work days are a special day every month where we encourage volunteers and members – old and new – to come in and lend a hand for DIY, space maintenance and improvement, deep cleaning, and litter picking our local area. No special skills needed!

Work days are a fun, active way to meet with existing friends, make new ones and to get to know the space if you don’t already.

As you may know, Partisan’s applications for listed building consent and a Change of Use for our building (so that we can become wheelchair accessible) are currently being reviewed by the council. During this time, the council can come for a site visit at any point. So it’s extra important that lots of us come down for this one so we can make sure everything’s sparkly clean and tidy for their visit.

If you struggle with your mobility, or for whatever reason feel uncomfortable doing more practical tasks, there are always ideas to be thinking of re the design and layout of the space, and if you’re not already a member, you can check out our Design Team on Slack* channel to see what has been discussed so far, and how you might want to get involved yourself. 🙂

PARTISAN ACCESSIBILITY STATEMENT

Regrettably, Partisan is not yet wheelchair accessible. However, we are working closely with the council and our architect to make this Grade 2 Listed building accessible to all. Partisan is located across 2 floors of a 3-story building. The basement has 11 steps from street level, without a handrail. The first floor has 22 steps from street level, with a handrail. There are 40 steps between the two floors. All toilets are gender-neutral and are located on both levels of the venue. On the first floor, these are single contained stalls. In the basement, there are stalls and urinals.

Seating is available on each floor at all events. For performances, a seated viewing area will be available.

Assistance dogs are allowed at all times. Other well behaved dogs are usually welcome, with the exception of in performance rooms of loud music events. If you have a dog allergy/phobia let us know – we’ll do what we can.

For ticketed events, paying disabled people are eligible to a free additional ticket for a PA to accompany them.

Partisan aims to be a safer space. As such, harmful and discriminatory behaviour is not tolerated. As a cooperative, Partisan is democratically owned by its members, and is shaped by everybody through what we say and what we do. If you are challenged or feel threatened, speak to someone wearing a Partisan badge; they are there to help.
