You Might Not Like This: Synthesis #2

27th October 2017 @ 6:00 pm - 11:30 pm

When we (YMNLT) were asked 6 months ago to promote a gig for hilarious body positive trio The Baby Seals, it soon became clear that this wouldn’t be your regular kind of event.

Prepare yourself for immersive decor, independent craft stalls, and a veritable variety of music provided by some of the finest female practitioners around!

Music over two floors featuring:

The Baby Seals – Every single one of these head-bobbing pop-punk songs are sure to be stuck in your head for a week – no easy feat to combine catchiness, empowerment & humour!

ILL – Semi-improv punk band local to Manchester, ILL have been stomping floors all over town, from Islington Mill to HOME. Fond memories of hearing 100 people shout “SPACE DICK” outside an art gallery!

Mutabase – Mutant punk & electronics from the subversive performance wonder. Is this meant to happen? Is any of it real? What’s going on?

NikNak – Her DJ sets known for flying from genre to genre in the danciest of ways, Nik Nak’s versatile mixing prowess will astound & delight!

J Frisco – Avant-garde jazz / electronic fusion. We are so into this band at the moment, they’re gaining traction in experimental scenes all over the country and have recently been selected for Jazz North Introduces!

IORA – Live looping & dynamic vocals allow for emotive folk undertones to shine through haunting electronic arrangements.

Autoportrait – Angelic imagery conjured by a wistfully ghost-like aesthetic; London’s getting wavey these days.

Elisa Astrid – Relaxed R&B influenced vocals, accompanied by minimal trip-hop beats – more waviness from London!

243 Ida – Honest & isolated vocal melodies glide through obscurely decorated pop songs – subtle glitch-work is the icing on this cake!

Art, crafts & visuals from:

Cubs Studio: Frivolous fun from Leeds! Cubs will be heading up the decor design with her wonderful body positive vibes. https://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/cubsstudio

Hippiezilla: Abstract art & colourful, smooth-flowing projections from MCR artist.

Suggested donation of £4. Profits will be directed to:

MASH (Manchester Action on Street Health): Providing support for sex workers – from being safe to dealing with money:

The Horsfall: Creative mental health support for young people:

Partisan Collective: This wonderful new community venue really needs your help in raising the funds required to become fully accessible:
