ZINE CLUB: Visible – zine making workshop w/ Drawn Poorly

28th July 2018 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Drawn Poorly Zine in collaboration with Pen Fight will be running a series of zine making workshops at Partisan Collective, by Victoria train station.

We will be looking at doing some different methods of making zines in theses sessions, collaborating to make entries to Visible zine, and talking ideas. You’re welcome to bring along your own zine project to work on, or ask questions about how to make your own zines. Supplies will be provided.

Come down for the whole session or drop in when you can – you do not need to attend all of the planned sessions (but you’re welcome to if you want to!).

This session is Pay What You Can to cover materials, no one will be turned away for lack of funds.

Drawn Poorly Zine is a Manchester based zine exploring living with chronic illness and long term health conditions in a cathartic and interesting way.

Pen Fight is a a feminist and queer shop and small press based in Manchester, UK. Independently run since 2015, they sell zines, radical books, badges, and other DIY and small-run art and craft.

Zine Club is a space where anyone can read, make zines, collaborate, be shown what a zine is and how to make one, work on an existing project, or ask more seasoned zine-makers any practical questions.
What’s a zine?
A zine (pronounced like maga-zine) is a self-made printed publication, often made cheaply, usually photocopied – but other printing methods can be used. They can be about anything, from politics to art to your favourite tv show. They can be hand made one-offs or printed in their hundreds. People can hand draw and copy and paste them, use a computer, or both, or anything in between. Even if you’ve never heard of them before, you’ve probably seen one and just didn’t know they had a special name. Anyone can make one, including you!
