Partisan’s Club space is located inside the Islington Mill on James Street (M3 5HW). Our Community Space is located across the courtyard on the ground floor of New Islington Mill, which can also be accessed from the Regent Trading Estate off Oldfield Road (M5 4DE).

RUF DUG [Wet Play / Ruf Kutz / Full Beam / Hi-Tackle / NTS / Rhythm Section]
The don dada of the Manchester party scene, Ruf Dug is an uncontrollable force guided only by the quest for dancefloor magic. From running his own label Ruf Kutz – which supplies tunes for the bags of DJs like Moodymann and Ben UFO – to curating the best stage at Gottwood Festival, to being a regular guest at Rhythm Section, Ruffy has his fingers in a lot of party pies, and that’s before we even get to his phenomenal Manchester activities. He shares the wheel of possibly the best resident-led night in the city, Wet Play, helped set up Hi-Tackle record shop, and co-hosts Full Beam FM NTS show (alongside his own NTS show from London.) We’ve loved collaborating with Ruffy in the past and we are so excited to get him back for a late slot at this one.
Sofie K [NTS]
The phenomenal Sofie K has been playing disco records since she was a wee teen, and her explosion onto the Manchester dance music scene was soon rewarded with a regular, coveted slot at NTS Radio where every month she shares a cosmic selection of all things disco, boogie, italo and more. In that time, she’s earned herself a reputation as a Partisan favourite – perhaps THE favourite! – for so many incredible, absolutely popping sets where without fail she sets the dancefloor alight. It was absolutely essential to get her back for this disco special.
Hidden Spheres [Rhythm Section / Lobster Theremin / Fruit Merchant]
Whilst the title track on his debut release from 2015 has raked up over three-quarters of a million views on YouTube(!!), Hidden Spheres has been establishing a serious name for himself with a slew of soulful, sophisticatedly jazz-inflected house records on heavyweight labels, and a properly delightful monthly NTS radio residency spanning everything from jazz to broken beats to disco to acid to funk to all shades of house. His NTS show belongs to his Manchester label Fruit Merchant, which over the last couple of years has given us four extra succulent, juicy cuts. We’re delighted to have him for his Partisan debut for this fundraiser party!!
Alexa [Whirldfuzzz]
For over two years now, the monthly Whirldfuzzz NTS show has been THE place to expand your musical horizons. Whether you want a Central America special, to discover psychedelic rock and cumbia of styles you never knew existed, or tune in for a collab with North African women musicians, Whirldfuzz have got you covered. Master of the leftfield banger, Alexa is hear to make us question our assumptions about the confines of disco and invite us to consider parallels and crossovers with other styles where we didn’t expect them. And to just play her favourite disco records 🙂
POPPY [Deptford Northern Soul Club]
One of the youngest, most hip-shaking historians of classic Northern Soul about, Poppy is an experienced selector behind the Partisan decks from a myriad of events dating back to Mancuso-homage Wax The Van, to Friendzone, to Horticulture. Get your dancing shoes on, because Poppy loves her disco.
JACK [Partisan]
Events team member extraordinaire, Jack is an amazing Partisan volunteer and a serious disco collector. He’ll be sharing some of his favourite cuts in the early afternoon to get us going,

Regrettably, Partisan is not yet wheelchair accessible. However, we are working closely with the council and our architect to make this Grade 2 Listed building accessible to all. Partisan is located across 2 floors of a 3-story building. The basement has 11 steps from street level, without a handrail. The first floor has 22 steps from street level, with a handrail. There are 40 steps between the two floors. All toilets are gender-neutral and are located on both levels of the venue. On the first floor, these are single contained stalls. In the basement, there are stalls and urinals.
Seating is available on each floor at all events. For performances, a seated viewing area will be available.
Assistance dogs are allowed at all times. Other well behaved dogs are usually welcome, with the exception of in performance rooms of loud music events. If you have a dog allergy/phobia let us know – we’ll do what we can.
For ticketed events, paying disabled people are eligible to a free additional ticket for a PA to accompany them.
Partisan aims to be a safer space. As such, harmful and discriminatory behaviour is not tolerated. As a cooperative, Partisan is democratically owned by its members, and is shaped by everybody through what we say and what we do. If you are challenged or feel threatened, speak to someone wearing a Partisan badge; they are there to help.
A quiet room is available on the first floor at this event for those wanting to take a break for a while.
