Description

Partisan is celebrating our first year of residence at Cheetham Hill Road with a big birthday bash, and you’re all invited!

We’ve invited some of our favourite musicians, DJs, artists, and community groups to keep you entertained and feeling good across 2 days and 2 floors of our lovely Grade II listed community and arts centre. All welcome! (as long as you’re nice)

While Sunday is free for all, Saturday is ticketed (free for members, £5 for non-members) All attendees using a member’s ticket must have their own valid individual membership.

If you are a disabled person who would benefit from having the company of a Personal Assistant, you may request a free +1 ticket for them.

Memberships must be bought prior to purchasing members-only tickets. If membership cards are needed in time for an event, please purchase at least 48 hours in advance to allow for processing.

Membership cards may be collected whilst events are on during the week from a co-ordinator (check our calendar), from the shop during opening hours (12-8pm, Thus-Sat), or on the door at larger events.

SATURDAY – MUSIC (midday-midnight)

Ajah UK – https://soundcloud.com/ajah-uk
a truly independent and unique Hip-Hop/Rock act, Ajah UK don’t conform to the hetero-normative perceptions of women and take pride in this. Music gives each band member a voice and path to freedom and together as Ajah UK they will walk that path beyond all boundaries and limitations. What constitutes their live performances is an epic and intense collaboration of words, music and entertainment that cuts the bullshit and represents everything they stand for as musicians and women.

AlgernonCornelius – https://algernoncornelius.bandcamp.com
Over the past 2 years Yorkshire bred beat-maker AlgernonCornelius has been prolific in producing “emotionally-infused”, “drugged-out and unsettling” beat-tapes. AlgernonCornelius’s musical philosophy is rooted in the art of the DJ, and thus an infinitely eclectic and boundless approach to sampling has produced some of the most disorientating music you’re likely to hear this year. Prepare to be recontextualised.

Hannah Ross – https://hannahross.bandcamp.com

Cat Apostrophe – https://catapostrophe.bandcamp.com
From the gut sad pop songs.

Marco Woolf – https://marcowoolf.bandcamp.com
A nightsong wailer and part-time wave phenomenon.

ELENA CAU – www.soundcloud.com/lc4t
This wonderful Manchester musician uses her shimmering voice, electric guitar, looping and keyboards to create thoughtful sensitive songs that will move you in delightful and unexpected ways.

RUMA– https://soundcloud.com/rumasound
Ciaran McAuley (formerly of Patterns) performs as his new modular synth based, A/V project, RUMA. Check out his interview about that and his involvement with Partisan on Birthday Cake For Breakfast: https://birthdaycakebreakfast.wordpress.com/2018/03/28/exclusive-stream-blood-moon-debut-single-from-experimental-manchester-audio-visual-project-ruma/

Neil Diablo– https://soundcloud.com/neildiablo
Head honcho at Manchester’s ‘El Diablo’s Social Club’ since 2003 and label boss at ‘To Rack & Ruin’ edit imprint & ‘El Diablo’s Social Club Recordings’ Neil is a busy man! His signature blend of leftfield Disco, House, Techno, Balearic and everything in between has earned him an unshakable reputation with those in the know as a crowd-loving crate-digger who never fails to set it off.
