Ether Mech’s debut EP 'Fear, Desire' is being celebrated with a listening party!
We didn’t fancy the work of a release gig so we’re doing this instead. We love a low-energy EP launch!
We are making zines and tapes especially for this event, and we'll also be selling merch like t-shirts, badges and mugs for the first time.
Here's how the event will run:
2pm – Doors open (get settled, get some merch if you fancy)
2:45pm – EP listening begins (intentional listening where we sit and listen)
3pm – The band will say a few words about the EP
3:15 – General social space to hang out with background music on
There will be no food or drink available at this event. You are welcome to bring snacks and drinks but we are keeping this a sober space, please be mindful of this.
More details about the space will be added closer to the event.
About the EP:
Fear, Desire is the first EP from “ferocious and sparkling” Manchester band, Ether Mech, delivered to you in dazzling stereo sound. Formed in 2019 from the bubbling mass of Manchester community organising, Ether Mech’s current members are Madeleine Françoise on bass, synth and vocals, Vivien Holmes on guitar and vocals, and Rami Yasir on drums. Their cathartic blend of noise and sound has landed them spots at local festivals all over Manchester and Salford – Sounds from the Other City, Beyond the Music and Fat out Fest to name just a few – and allowed them to support personal favourite bands such as Screaming Females and SPECIAL INTEREST.
Recorded and mixed at No Studio by Joe Clayton of Pijn - whose previous work includes recording for Conjurer, Ithaca and Underdark - Ether Mech’s Fear Desire mixes elements of punk, metal, hardcore and pop into a sound that will pull you into its world guts first. The pounding, insistent drums, the viciousness of the guitar’s bite, the growl and groove of each bassline, the gnawing drone of the synth – these five tracks disappear into a landscape of weirdness, queerness, anger and release that is uniquely Ether Mech.
