Partisan is a project to create a space for independent, community led, DIY and cultural based projects in Manchester.
As a co-operative, Partisan is democratically owned and managed by the people who work in and use the space.
We are fundraising to establish a permanent space in central Manchester. This will consist of at least two rooms – a café-bar and a flexible social space – hopefully with an outdoor area. The social space will be used for events, which community and independent cultural groups can use for free for meetings, exhibitions, film screenings, book launches, parties and gigs. Revenue generated by music events and the café-bar will subsidise the free use of the space.
We hope that Partisan can be a collective resource to bring groups together in Manchester and it’s central location will make it available to as wide a range of people as possible. We want the space to be accessible, child-friendly and to be an inclusive environment to socialise in, without the pressure to purchase food or drink.
We are currently in the process of securing a permanent space but in the meantime if your group, co-operative or personal endeavours have any meetings, projects or events you’d like support with, just get in touch and we’ll help shout about them.
