What is the co-op?
The co-op is a group of dedicated collective members who take care of the day-to-day running of Partisan, including office management, event coordination, finances and licensing issues. Most members of the co-op are volunteers, but it includes five paid part-time coordinators.
We do not currently have the budget to expand on these paid roles, but there is no maximum number of co-op members.
Why join the co-op?
You’ll gain experience, confidence and skills. You can help with the day-to-day running of Partisan. You’ll be working with a great group of people! Also, any paid roles and work within Partisan will be made available to co-op members first.
What does it involve?
Being in the co-op requires volunteering an average of four hours’ work per week and attending our biweekly co-op meetings. These are currently held on Tuesday evenings.
While the co-op as a whole takes on certain responsibilities, individual members of the co-op are not under any obligation to work on prescribed tasks (with the exception of paid staff). Members can continue to work on any Partisan duties they choose.
How do I join?
To join the co-op you should have been involved with Partisan for at least three months, doing an average of four hours’ voluntary work per week. Anyone showing this ongoing commitment to the collective is welcome to apply to join. No special skills or experience are required.
If you fulfil these criteria you are free to approach any member of the co-op and let them know you’re interested. Acceptance is decided by a collective vote on the part of the co-op.
