Opened in July 2017, Partisan is a collective and largely volunteer-run space for independent, community-led DIY and cultural projects.
We are located over two floors in a Grade II listed building on Cheetham Hill Road in central Manchester. Our basement is a flexible venue space and bar, and upstairs is a large social space surrounded by offices and meeting rooms. Both areas are available for use by independent community and cultural groups, to host meetings, exhibitions, film screenings, book launches, parties and gigs.
Partisan is democratically owned and managed by its members. Anyone can become a member. We employ five coordinators, who are responsible for the day-to-day running of the organisation with the support of our co-op — a dedicated group of volunteers.
Revenue generated by membership, office and room rental, events and our café-bar subsidises the free and affordable use of the space for those that need it.
