Partisan Presents: Kessie B2B Just Bee w/ Esme & MUSYS

Last time we had Kessie at Partisan she was spinning us into 2023 at our New Years Eve Party and helped us christen our new home in Islington Mill. We are excited to have her back, along with this heavy line up that she has curated for us.

Whilst living in Hong Kong, Kessie was exposed to the talented local DJs driving the scene with percussive grooves, deep techno and powerful bass music at DIY venues. These impressionable memories inspired her to dig and work on her craft on her return to the UK. One person who made an impact is Just Bee, a talented DJ who will be travelling from East Asia to Manchester for a two hour back to back set with Kessie.  As well as this anticipated B2B, Kessie has invited two talented DJs based in West Yorkshire whom she deeply respects: MUSYS and Esme, both known for pushing tough, wild and gritty sounds. Expect variety and heavy beats, this night is not to be missed!

Kessie

A tempo bending enthusiast, she roams from techno to sleazy chug, idm to electro, ebm to bass and anything in between.  Kessie’s love for trippy and pulsating sounds comes through her sets. This summer she will be playing for E1, Junction 2 and ION Festival supporting the likes of Dax J, Helena Hauf, Anz and Tim Reaper.

Just Bee

Just Bee, an influential figure in Hong Kong’s electronic music scene, has established herself as a leading tastemaker over the last eight years. As part of DJ Mag China’s #1 Record Label, Unchained Asia, Just Bee’s distinctive style has made her a sought-after DJ, captivating audiences in diverse venues, from underground warehouses to breathtaking rooftops across Asia. From crafting inviting vibes at Grand Hyatt Hotel to delivering high-energy all-night sets at underground institutions like Shenzhen’s Oil Club and Hong Kong’s Mihn Club, Just Bee has cemented her status as a master selector in the electronic music realm.

Esme:

Yorkshire-based Esmé has garnered a significant following on the underground scene over the last few years; becoming known for her slick vinyl blends and varied, euphoric sound. Mixing breaks, acid, jungle and electro; she regularly showcases her skills on her monthly NARR Radio residency. She’s already been busy this year, playing top clubs across the UK in Manchester, London, Glasgow and more – supporting club legends like Jerome Hill and Bored Lord.

MUSYS:

MUSYS is a Leeds-based via Jordan DJ, radio host and mother of Souq Sounds, a collective raising money for charitable causes. She plays a mixture of high energy pumpers, diasporic sounds, percussive dance music and chuggers. Her growing recognition has seen her play at mnfa (Amman, Jordan), Wide Awake, Jazz Cafe and Hidden Door Art Festival.

Solidarity tickets – Partisan Collective is a not-for-profit community run organisation, all money we raise from ticket sales and bar goes right back into Partisan. Solidarity tickets help us continue to be able to offer a free space to community groups, activist groups, and fundraisers.
