PARTISAN SOBER SPACE – PRIDE IS A PROTEST
28th August 2021 @ 4:00 pm - 10:00 pm
🌟 PARTISAN SOBER SPACE – PRIDE IS A PROTEST 🌟
Pride is a Protest developed from a series of peer-to-peer research Zooms and in response to LGBTQ+ people who are marginalised by the nature and commercialisation of Pride events across the country.
Through these conversations hosted by Islington Mill, Partisan and Fat-Out an idea has developed to create a day of events and using the power of food, art, workshops, performance and protest to explore what an alternative to commercialised Pride could look like, and explore platforms for people’s voices to be heard. This is a FREE event.
Partisan’s space, located on Oldfield Road, will be open from 16:00-22:00, providing a much needed sober space to engage in all sorts of Pride delights from the Partisan community & friends.
We have curated food, workshops, performance, music, clothes swapping & more to bring people together to meet, learn, protest, celebrate & have F U N !

Alongside our scheduled program we’ll have food from the amazing Queer Food Project available for you to gorge on, and a clothes swap from Trans Mutual Aid Manchester. These things will be running through the day.
If you would like to jump on the decks on the day, bring down a USB or some records, it’s going to be very free & easy.
Dancercise with Fiona
Join Fiona for 2 ridiculously fun and totally fabulous dance sessions. You’ll be dancing to queer anthems, old and new, by legends such as Sylvester, Lil Nas X and many more!
All abilities and fitness levels welcome.
Trans Mutual Aid Manchester (TMAM) are holding a gender affirming clothes swap aimed at trans and nonbinary people. We can do small alterations and any mending on the day.
There will be free clothes in a range of styles including a small selection of binders (extra donations of these would be greatly appreciated!) If you have unopened makeup to donate that would be great too!
You are welcome and encouraged to bring any decent, good quality clothes you have with you on the day to swap for something new and cute to wear at pride. If you’re bringing stuff with you on the day, plus size clothes especially would be really useful as we want to make this event as accessible as possible.
If you would like to volunteer for Partisan at this event and help to make it happen, follow the Signup link: https://signup.com/go/dsPETRi
We wouldn’t be able to run the space without the support of our amazing volunteers & members!
PARTISAN ACCESSIBILITY STATEMENT
Whilst we work towards making Partisan’s new space fully wheelchair accessible we have a temporary ramp for our entrance.
Assistance dogs are allowed at all times. Other well behaved dogs are usually welcome, with the exception of in performance rooms of loud music events. If you have a dog allergy/phobia let us know – we’ll do what we can.

As a cooperative, Partisan is democratically owned by its members, and is shaped by everybody through what we say and what we do. If you are challenged or feel threatened, speak to someone wearing a Partisan t-shirt; they are there to help.
A quiet space is available for those wanting to take a break for a while, please ask a volunteer and they will show you where to go.
