Join the Partisan Screenings Team for a showing of Ways of Seeing— the highly acclaimed series presented by John Berger.
The show asks us to question the cultural canon—while directly critiquing traditional aesthetics by raising questions about hidden ideologies in visual images. Ways of Seeing draws its inspiration from Walter Benjamin’s The Work of Art in the Age of Mechanical Reproduction and dives into the world of artistic tradition, desire, oil paint, and contemporary advertising through four 30 minute softly spoken episodes.
For the last 50 years Berger’s work has become the elementary art school text—and we’re super excited to bring this fundamental work to Partisan.
The screening will start at 15.00 + we’ll have a short intermission at 16.00 and should finish around 17.30
This takes place upstairs whilst the Partisan All Day Party ! #12 is on in the basement. The upstairs bar will be open for this screening, with hard and soft drinks.
FREE ENTRY – donations really appreciated.
