Manchester Green New Deal Podcast in conversation with Max Ajl (online)

29th July 2021 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

Partisan is happy to announce that we’ll be hosting the Manchester Green New Deal as they talk with Max Ajl about his new book, A People’s Green New Deal.

Max Ajl is an associated researcher with the Tunisian Observatory for Food Sovereignty and the Environment and a postdoctoral fellow with the Rural Sociology Group at Wageningen University. His latest book, A People’s Green New Deal, was published by Pluto Press in April 2021.

An introduction from the Mcr GND Podcast:

The Mcr GND Podcast was set up to explore all aspects of the fight against climate breakdown with a view to promoting the best of that knowledge into the concept of a Green New Deal. We cover all aspects of this struggle from activism, science, politics, and economics and have been fortunate enough to speak with world-renowned experts in each of these fields, with many more still to come.
From the beginning, we also wanted to make sure that we used our platform to highlight and amplify environmental campaigns in Mcr. Understanding global climate issues is extremely important, but it shouldn’t be of the detriment to connecting with and supporting groups from where you live.
The hosts for the evening:
Adam Williams is Co-founder of the Mcr GND Podcast, is a member of GM Labour for a GND, and has an M.A in Critical Theory.
Adam has been a part of numerous actions by XR, including 4 separate actions in London as well as the action by XR Mcr to reclaim Deansgate.
He also led a successful campaign to get Rochdale council to phase out the harmful weedkiller, glyphosate.
Dr Lucy Burke is the principal lecturer at MMU in the department of English, national negotiator for the University & College Union, a disability rights activist, and co-host of the Mcr GND Podcast.
Lucy specialises in the areas of critical medical humanities, literary & cultural disability studies, and stood as the Labour candidate for Bury South in the 2019 general elections.
